ring joint gasket
ring joint gasket can be used under the vacuum conditionof1000kgf/cm² and more for high-pressure vessel, tower andvessel,valve bonnet, etc. including high-temperature andhigh-pressuresteam, oil, gas, solvent, etc.
there are oval type and octagonal type as its representativeshape,which can be generally used for pressure of max. 350kgf/cm2andthere is bx type for more pressure. as for oval type andoctagonaltype, oval type has bigger flange groovedeformation.
it is because gasket itself is deformed while bolt is extendeduntilarriving to constant pressure by increased flangeconnectionpressure and line contact is moved to surface contact aswell.therefore, it has good initial sealing performance but gasketislargely deformed.
when octagonal type is internally pressured, contact pressurewithflange is increased, which is initially connected tosurfacecontact. so it requests high connection pressure. but asforsealing characteristics, we can’t clearly say what type isbetter.generally, octagonal type is widely used. rx type can beused forflange groove of ring joint gasket but bx type can be onlyusedwith api- std-6bx flange.
