part1
animals 动物
(1)what wildlife do you like ?/ what"s your favourite wild animal?
i love wolves. they are just such majestic and graceful animals. i also like all kinds of other animals - from snakes, to eagles, to zebras, to orca whales. basically everything, but wolves are the ones i think of first.
(2 )have you kept pets before ?/do you keep a pet?
no, i don"t keep a pet. but i like cats. they are lovely and quiet. yet my mum just can "t put up with any fury pets in our house, so i never get a chance to have one. in fact, i ’m planning on keeping a ragdoll cat when i study oversea.
(3 )do you like to see animals in the zoo?
yes, definitely it is one of the favorite places in my city that i really love to go. there used to be a zoo in a city which is two hours away from where i live, so i visit those excellent creatures every now and then. you know, it’ ’s amazing you can get to see all these wild animals like tigers, hawks, dolphins just in one place. to me, that ’s a good way to relax at the end of an exhausting week.
study 学习
(1)what subjects are you studying ?
i am studying english, the most widely-used language in this world, in the department of foreign languages. besides, my second foreign language is france, the so-called most beautiful language. and as a senior student, i am writing my thesis now.
(2)why did you choose to study that ?
i didn’t think much about this subject when choosing to study that. i just followed my mother’s advice because i was so confused about my future and even didn’t know what i was into. she said i could be a translator or an interpreter in the future if i choose english as my major. i agreed with her and made this decision.
(3)what do you always do after class (when you are free) ) ?
after class, i usually review what i have learned in the class, and complete the assignments before hanging out with friends or doing exercises, or playing on the computer. in my view, i am procrastinator who get used to putting matters off. therefore, “studying first and enjoying later” is the basic principle for me.
hometown 家乡
(1)what"s (the name of) your hometown (again)?/ where do you come from?
my hometown is xi’an in the middle of china. xi’an is an international city and famous for its amazing history. there are too many places of interest in my hometown such as ancient city wall, terra-cot ta warriors and great wild goose pagoda, each of which is breathtaking by the way, and they attract thousands of tourists every year.
(2)is it an interesting city? / is there any interesting place nearby ?
yes, it is. as what i have mentioned, tourist attractions in xi’an are magnificent and have legendary stories behind them. i have gone there for many times in spare time to feel the spirit of this city. although it is a historical city, many large modern landmarks and advanced facilities can also be found here, even the fashion plate will not feel bored here.
(3)what do you like about the city ?
i like the distinct seasons. it is cold in winter, very wet and windy in spring, hot in summer, which is rather short, and we usually have clear skies and varying temperatures in fall. the climate here allows us to do all kinds of activities, such flying kite in spring, swimming in summer, having a picnic in fall and skiing in winter.

part2
1、describe someone who is knowledgeable
you should say:
who this person is
how you know this person
what kinds of things he knows
how you think of this person
part3
well, a knowledgeable person i’m going to talk about is one of my neighbor, dr. smith. you know, she is from canada and she’s in her mid-50s already, but she is still quite energetic every single day doesn’t seem that old at all.
i got to know her when she moved into our neighborhood. she is the professor of the department of philosophy in the university. unlike other scholars in the ivory tower, she always has a fine sense of humor and help others to solve problems. i think the best word to describe her would be multi-talented and extremely intelligent. she’s good at so many stuff, like fishing and playing chess. plus, she can also play various kinds of musical instruments, such as the violin, the piano and the guitar. oh, i shouldn’t forget to mention that she’s pretty knowledgeable too. she’s really a walking encyclopedia. it feels like she knows every events in the western history in entails and every place in the world that i even have never heard before.
i really admire her because she’s so versatile. i haven’t seen many other people who did well in so many areas. also, as i mentioned earlier, she made the great achievement academically and professionally. thus, i really look up to her.
part2
2.describe a (long) car journey you went on
you should say:
where you went
what you did at this place
who you went there with
and explain why you went on that journey by car.
part3
i’d like to talk about a self-drive tour i have had through inner mongolia after my graduation of high school with my best friend jack and his girlfriend jenny. you know, jack and i were always like peas and carrots in high school and with the same interest of travelling all around the world. jack suggested that we went to inner mongolia and promised that we won’t be regretted to go there as the beautiful sceneries, interesting culture and clear roads without bumper to bumper traffic. after 2 days preparation, we rented a car, set off at night and drove overnight to avoid peak hours’ traffic jam. approximately, we drove 10 hours to inner mongolia, reaching hohhot eventually. while we were driving we saw towering mountains, lush forests and a magnificent lake called dali lake. there was also a very impressive bridge that had been built over a deep valley.
the reason we decided to go by car was that we wanted to go to quite remote parts of inner mongolia that are not accessible by train or plane. i’d always liked the idea of driving on the open road and having a car lets you explore at your own pace, allowing you to stop and take pictures whenever you want. however, a road trip would be tough and challenging. it is worth taking risks and stepping out of your comfort zone to truly experience what life has to offer when your legs can still carry you rather than to regret in your later life. with four people sharing the fuel and rental costs, it also worked out reasonably cheap.
