the hku master of science in business analytics (msba) programme is designed for?inpiduals who are interested in the theories and methods of analyzing large volumes of data to gain competitive advantages and strategic insights in today‘s business world.

the hku msba programme is offered in a?one-year full-time mode* with an aim to train students in using quantitative tools for managing and analyzing big data in strategic decision making for business and management.
our well-structured curriculum offers a highly specialized range of courses in business analytics, including statistics, decision models, operation analytics, business intelligence and analytics, and applications in forecasting, simulation, data mining, social media, service process, supply chains, marketing and finance, etc. all courses are taught in english.
curriculum
the programme will require a total of ten 6-credit courses to complete, including five core courses (30 credits) and five elective courses (30 credits). our rigorous curriculum is pided into three streams: general analytics, information analytics, and operations analytics. the course structure is illustrated as follows:

申请要求
to be eligible for admission to the master of science in business analytics programme, you must:
hold a recognized bachelor’s degree;
obtain statements from two referees, regarding the suitability for the programme; and
obtain a toefl/ielts* score if you are not from an english-medium university.
gmat/gre* scores are not required, but a good gmat/gre score will be favorably considered and may be helpful for marginal cases.不强制要求gmat/gre，但是较好gmat/gre成绩有助于录取；

toefl and ielts score reports are valid for two years only. gmat score reports are valid for five years. for example, if you submit your application form on feb 2, 2017, then only the report of toefl/ielts test taken after feb 1, 2015 is considered valid. also, please make sure you can arrange the official test report to us in time as the test authorities may not issue your report when the test result has expired.
admissions schedule
the application system for intake 2017 has been closed. we will announce the admissions schedule for intake 2018 in sep 2017.
international students are encouraged to submit their applications in the first two rounds to allow sufficient time to apply for visas and make other travel arrangements to hong kong.
admissions decisions are generally available in six to eight weeks after the application deadlines. successful applicants will be notified by email. for those who do not receive an offer from the hku msba programme office, their applications will be considered again in the following round until the end of the whole admissions cycle.
tuition fee & scholarships
the tuition fee of hk$250,000 for intake 2017 is payable in two instalments over one year and is subject to change and final approval by the university of hong kong.
first instalment
oct: hk$125,000
second instalment
jan: hk$125,000
we offer merit-based scholarships to new students at the time of admission. the number of scholarships to be awarded will not exceed 10% of the intake number in the relevant academic year.
the amount of each scholarship is subject to the performance of the candidate. all eligible candidates will automatically be considered and no separate application for the scholarship is required.

1. is there any preferred academic or professional background for applicants of this program?
for the master of science in business analytics programme (msba), there is no specified requirement on the field of applicants’ undergraduate studies. applicants from different fields are welcome to apply. 无本科背景要求
2. what factors are considered in the admission decision?
we will consider the entire profile of the applicant, including previous academic performance, toefl/ielts test scores (if applicable), referees‘ recommendation, working experience and professional qualifications, etc.
3. do i need to submit a toefl/ielts score and what are the minimum scores required?
if your previous degree was obtained from a university where the language of teaching and/or examination is not english, you are required to submit a toefl/ielts score. for toefl, the minimum score required is 550 in the paper-based test, 213 in the computer-based test, and 80 in the internet-based test. for ielts, a minimum overall band of 7 with no subtest lower than 6 is required. if you do not meet the minimum scores but demonstrate exceptional strengths in other parts of your application, you may still be admitted with a lower score.test scores more than two years old will not be accepted.托福最低80，雅思最低7分，单项不低于6.
11. will there be any interview?
interviews may be required for some candidates. we will email the interview notification directly to shortlisted candidates if an interview is required.face-to-face interviews will be conducted for local candidates and skype video interviews for non-local candidates.
12. when can i get the admission result?
the admissions committee will start to review the applications after each application deadline. it generally takes 6-8 weeks for the admission results to be ready after the deadline. we will contact admitted applicants directly by email.for those who do not receive an offer, their applications will be considered again in the following round until the end of the whole admissions cycle.
