题目:the chart shows the changes in thepercentage of households with cars in a european country between 1971 and 2001.summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, andmake comparisons where relevant. write at least 150 words.
the bar chartclearly illustrates the percentage of families in a european country in terms of private carownership from 1971 to 2001. it is obvious that the ratio of households withoutcars declined continuously in the three decades, while families that held oneor more cars saw a more vigorousgrowth.
to be specific, households with no cars accountedfor over 51% in 1971, the highest percentage in the 30 years, and sincethen, the figure decreased to 41% in 1981 and 30% in 1991, followed by a dropto 28% in 2001. compared with the proportions before 1980s, families with onecar experienced a rising trend especially in the last two decades when thepercentage jumped from a little over 30% in 1971 and 1981 to more than 45% in2001. for the households that owned two or more cars, the ratio fluctuatedduring the 30 years from the lowest 15% in 1971 to the highest 28% in both 1981and 2001.
overall, mostfamilies did not have cars between 1971 and 1981, and those with only one carranked the second place. but from 1991 to 2001, the situation reversed as a majority ofhouseholds owned one car, with the highest percentage of 50% in 1991.
①in terms of: 就……而言
②vigorous: adj.
③account for: 占有
④reverse: v.
题目:inmany countries nowadays, more and more women have full-time jobs as men. thereis a logic that men and women should share the housework tasks equally. towhat extent do you agree or disagree?
nowadays, themajority of women have jobs, which means housework does not come with a genderanymore. to maintain the harmony in a family, it is probably best for couplesto share the domestic work equally.
although it is ourtraditional norm that defines women’s responsibility for the housework, aswomen’s involvement in the workforceincreases, it is reasonable that husbands should take responsibility to sharethe domestic duties. if women who are employed on full time basis outside stillneed to do the lion’sshare of the chores at home, they are more likely to feel upset andstressful about unfinished tasks, which will adversely affect marital satisfaction andhousehold happiness. by contrast, many researches have shown that men doingmore chores can help strengthen marriages and protect against divorce.
while it soundslike a common sense that both men and women need to devote equal time todomestic chores, the fact is that the amount of time women spend on routinehousework tasks still dwarfsthe time spent on non-routine domestic matters carried out by men. in suchfamilies, many husbands tend to reflect that it will make them feel a loss ofidentity to assist their wife in doing household chores. this feeling threatenstheir passions and makes them unwilling to participate in household tasks suchas raisingchildrenandcleaning. however, it should be well recognised that the house is shared byboth partners, and there should not be a reason why husband should feel ashamedto do chores around the house.
in conclusion, sharing the housework evenly is a surefire way to keep a harmoniousrelationship between the couples, and it is believed that the gender gap inhousework will disappear someday.
①workforce:n.
②the lion’s share: 大部分
④dwarf: v.
